Still a year from its official launch, DataGravity raised $30 million in series B funding this week, helping the company along its path to bring big data to small business and consumers. The firm aims to help small and mid-tier companies leverage unstructured data without the cost of adding a lot of infrastructure. DataGravity hasn't provided much detail on how it plans to achieve its goals, but Paula Long, co-founder and CEO, said the company has tested the initial concept of the product with a variety of potential customers. Her partner and president, John Joseph, said the idea is to focus on the data rather than the costly consulting services and staff provided by larger firms.
