Spotlight: Big data could trim almost $400 billion from budget, federal IT officials say

A survey by the TechAmerica Foundation has found that 83 percent of federal IT officials believe big data could help cut $380 billion from the federal budget. The report was sponsored by SAP and surveyed 198 federal and state IT workers. 82 percent of those surveyed said they believe real-time big data is the way of the future, while three out of four said they think it is helping to improve the quality of life for citizens.
