Pentaho, Rackspace, Hortonworks partner on Hadoop-as-a-Service
Pentaho has combined its Hadoop integration and analytics with Rackspace's public and private cloud to create the Rackspace Big Data service.
"Together, Rackspace, Hortonworks and Pentaho have jointly delivered an offering that facilitates ease of use and ease of adoption of Hadoop as a Service," said Eddie White, executive vice president of Business Development at Pentaho, in a statement to the press.
"Rackspace Big Data includes the HortonWorks Data Platform for Hadoop; Pentaho Business Analytics as the ETL/Big Data Integration partner; and Karmasphere providing Hadoop analytics," it noted.
While this is not the first Hadoop-as-a-service offering to be brought to market, the partnership behind this one is stunningly strong. Of the partners involved, arguably Pentaho has the most to gain, as this is its first strategic cloud partnership.
Rackspace Big Data is available directly from Rackspace. Pentaho will also be listed in the Rackspace Cloud Tools marketplace.
