Open Data Center Alliance publishes 'Big Data Consumer Guide'

Research from the Open Data Center Alliance shows that 15 out of 17 business sectors have more data stored per company than the U.S. Library of Congress. So, the alliance has published a "Big Data Consumer Guide" to help them address the growing need for big data and associated solutions.

The guide outlines a plan to provide concrete recommendations and insight to benefit both big data solution providers and enterprise consumers.

Additionally, it establishes common language and definitions that enterprises can use when working with big data vendors, and tries to achieve a balance between existing investments and new investments, to address the increasing volume, velocity, and variety of enterprise data. It also will provide insight into potential big data use cases.

The ODCA also hopes contribute to the ODCA Data Services Working Group, ODCA's initiative to bring solution providers and big data enterprise consumers together to drive the creation of open and standards-based technologies.
